Betty Yee is a proven leader and champion for working families who served as California’s Controller from 2015 to 2023. In 2018, she earned over 8 million votes, the highest of any candidate in California history. As the state’s chief fiscal officer, she oversaw the finances of the world’s fifthlargest economy, uncovering $7.5 billion in misspending and strengthening transparency and accountability. Yee chaired the Franchise Tax Board and served on the boards of CalPERS and CalSTRS, helping guide more than $800 billion in public pension investments while advancing responsible, sustainable policies. With over 40 years of public service, she has led initiatives on tax fairness, economic opportunity, and good governance. The daughter of immigrants, Yee remains committed to building a more equitable and inclusive California.
