Robert Rivas

Speaker of the California State Assembly

Robert Rivas has served as Speaker of the California State Assembly since 2023 and was first elected to the legislature in 2018. He previously served two terms on the San Benito County Board of Supervisors and chaired the Assembly’s Agriculture Committee while also serving as Vice-Chair of the Latino Legislative Caucus. Speaker Rivas is a lifelong resident of California’s 29th Assembly District. His leadership is influenced by his upbringing in farmworker housing and his Central Coast roots guide his work in public service.
